Best Way to Cook a Frozen Pizza
Let’s face it, frozen pizzas are not the best food in the world. But sometimes you’re just too lazy or you have no time to cook, and a frozen pizza is your only option. So what’s the best way to cook a frozen pizza? There are lots of different methods out there, but we’re going to share with you our favourite way to do it. Keep reading to find out how to reheat a frozen pizza.
Can you cook frozen pizza in the air fryer?
Yes you can cook your frozen pizza in the air fryer! Through the way air fryers are designed, the hot air that circulates around the food quickly heats all sides if the pizza evenly which helps prevent the crust from becoming a soggy mess. However, depending on the pizza crust thickness, they all cook a little differently so it’s important that you cater the cooking time to those factors.
Start off by setting the air fryer to 195℃. We suggest starting at 6-10 minutes first and depending on how cooked your pizza is, add extra time accordingly.
Some pizzas may burn on the top before it is fully cooked, so to avoid this from happening, just spray a light layer of oil on the pizza.
How to cook frozen pizza in the oven
When cooking with an oven the first step is to remove the plastic wrap your pizza most likely came in if it’s store bought because it can catch fire.
You might be wondering if you need to thaw your frozen pizza before putting it into the oven or not, and the answer is that you don’t need to. It doesn’t need to thaw. It won’t turn watery and ruin the pizza, instead it ensures that the pizza tastes fresh and has the right texture when fully cooked.
Just be aware that some pizza brands may instruct you to thaw the pizza, so make sure to check the instructions and every pizza is not the same.
Before the pizza goes in the oven, make sure it has been preheated to the temperature on the packaging. The time your pizza takes to cook will also depend on the brand so be sure to check for that too.
How to cook frozen pizza in a microwave
Using a microwave can also be another quick and easy solution to cooking your frozen pizza, but remember that this method won’t give you that super crisp crust that the oven and air fryer will provide. This is because a microwave doesn’t bake the pizza.
A microwave instead, heats food through radiation meaning it vibrates water molecules to get hot which creates steam. The steam gets trapped inside and results in the pizza becoming soggy.
If you want it to be crispy while still using a microwave you can try and use a microwave safe object to lift the pizza off the plate so the steam can escape and the pizza will not be waterlogged. A crisper pan is also something you can use for a crunchy crust.
Similar to using the oven, if the pizza is store-bought it will come with instructions on how long you should microwave it, as every pizza brand is different. You do not need to thaw the pizza this way either.
Also make sure you remove the plastic wrap and place it on a microwave safe plate.
If instructions were not included in the pizza box, here are some recommended microwave cooking times:
- single slice: 1-2 minutes
- mini pizza: -5 minutes
- 8-9 inch pizza: 4-6 minutes
- 10-11 inch pizza: 5-7 minutes
- 11-12 inch pizza: 7-11 minutes
