minutesIngredients
1 ½ tbsp olive oil
1 tsp caster sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried yeast
500g bread flour
100ml passata
1 tbsp fresh basil
1 crushed garlic clove
2 thinly sliced tomatoes
200g vegan mozzarella cheese
Directions
- In a large bowl, add the flour, yeast and sugar.
- Measure 300ml of warm water, and add in the oil and salt. Mix together and pour into the dry ingredients. Stir well with a spoon and proceed to knead the mixture with your hands in the bowl until it forms a dough. If it is too dry, add a small splash of water.
- On a lightly flour dusted surface, begin kneading. When the dough becomes soft, light, fluffy and springy, put it back in the bowl, lightly greased with a bit of oil and cover with a cling wrap or tea towel. Leave it in a warm place for rise for around an hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Heat the oven to around 200℃. Once the dough has risen, gently knead it a few times on a floured surface. Then set aside.
- Add the passata, basil and garlic together in a bowel. Season with salt and pepper, and any other ingredients if you wish.
- Get the dough and divide into 2 large or 4 small balls. Flatten each one with a rolling pin as thin as you can get it, while making sure it it lightly floured so it doesn’t stick to the bench.
- Dust a baking sheet with flour and place each pizza base on top. Get the tomato mixture, and spread it on top. Add the sliced tomatoes and grated cheese. Drizzle some olive oil on top and place in the oven to bake fro around 10-12 mins or until the cheese is golden and melted and the crust has puffed up.
